President George H.W. Bush, the former sock-lover-in-chief, shared his love of colorful socks with party supporters this year with the help of the Republican National Committee.

Limited-edition pairs of bright striped socks — embroidered with Bush 41’s signature and Republican elephants — have been available through the RNC website with a contribution of at least $35. A second red, white, and blue pattern has also been released.

Coffee Drinkers: Political Mugs

Texas Democrats are trying to score a few more laughs at Gov. Rick Perry’s expense before the potential presidential candidate leaves office. The state party is selling coffee mugs emblazoned with the outgoing governor’s mug shot—and the message “#mugshot”– taken in August during Perry’s booking for the charges he faced for abuse of power.

Another option is the cryptic mug available at the National Security Agency’s gift shop. According to the Washington Post, a message scrawled on the side of the cup is deciphered when warm liquid is added to the mug.

Reality Television Fans: Clay Aiken Campaign Pins

In 2003, North Carolina-bred Clay Aiken was the runner up on the second season of American Idol. In 2014, he turned his sights from Tinseltown to Congress, running against Republican Rep. Supreme Court Watchers: Notorious R.B.G.

In late November, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg experienced some chest pain during a late night workout. The 81-year-old Ginsburg had a heart stent implanted to clear a blocked artery, and returned to the bench the following Monday.
