Writers Guild Announces TV Nominations for Its Awards Ceremony
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Writers Guild of America has revealed its TV nominations for the 2015 Writers Guild Awards.
HBO’s Silicon Valley and Amazon’s Transparent were the new standouts this year. Both earned nominations for comedy series and new series, and Transparent received a third nod for episodic comedy. The show stars Jeffrey Tambor as a father who comes out to his adult children as transgender.
Nominees also included Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, True Detective, The Good Wife, Mad Men, Louie and Modern Family — which all nabbed two nominations each.
Among the notable omissions were FX’s Fargo, because the WGA did not recognize it as a miniseries, and Showtime’s Homeland.
The film nominations have yet to be announced.
The winners will be chosen by the 12,000 WGA members and will be announced in simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York on Feb. 14. The full list of nominees can be found on WGA.org.
