Brown/Getty Images(PARK CITY, Utah) — The main purpose of the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, is to showcase and hopefully sell independent films.  Actor Joseph Fiennes is a veteran of the festival and is attending this year in the hope that a movie he stars in, The Games Maker, gets picked up by a distributor, which is key to getting it into theaters.

“Well, I hope, I pray that it does get distribution because it would be such a shame if it didn’t get viewed,” Fiennes tells ABC News Radio.

Fiennes says it will be hard to take if the film doesn’t get distribution because a lot goes into making a movie.

The story centers on a young boy with a love of board games who finds himself in the competitive world of game invention.

Still, Fiennes is pleased he’s attending one of the biggest film festivals in the world. “To be at Sundance is a blessing, so, I couldn’t be happier,” says Fiennes.

The Sundance Film Festival runs from Jan. 22 to Feb. 1.
