(SAN BERNADINO, Ca.) — A California girls high school basketball coach has been suspended two games after being accused of running up the score.

Michael Anderson of Arroyo Valley High led his team to a 161-2 victory over last week over Bloomington High.

Bloomington High head coach Dale Chung had spoken with Anderson before the game.  Anderson had requested that his team be able to play all-out in the first half in preparation for their next game.  By half time, Arroyo Valley led 104-1.

“The game just got away from me,” Anderson told the San Bernardino Sun on Friday. “I didn’t play any starters in the second half. I didn’t expect them to be that bad. I’m not trying to embarrass anybody.”

Anderson announced that he was suspended by his school after the game.

His son Nick coached the next game, leading Arroyo Valley to an 80-19 victory over San Bernardino Indian Springs.
