Comedy Central Debuts “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore”
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore premiered Monday night on Comedy Central. The former Daily Show correspondent is taking the timeslot previously occupied by Stephen Colbert and The Colbert Report.
Wilmore opened the show by announcing, “We talk Selma, Ferguson, and Eric Garner. It’s Comedy Central’s worst nightmare — brother finally gets a show in late night TV. But of course he’s gotta work on Martin Luther King Day.”
Comedy Central says the show “will provide viewers with Larry Wilmore’s distinct point of view and comedic take on current events and pop culture” and also “feature a diverse panel of voices, providing a perspective largely missing in the late night television landscape.”
Monday’s panel included comedian Bill Burr, Democratic New Jersey Senator Cory Booker and hip-hop artist Talib Kweli.
The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore airs at 11:30 p.m. Eastern time.
