PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Idaho man accused in a scheme that skimmed at least $79,000 from 250 people who expected him to manage their Social Security money has pleaded guilty.

The Oregonian reports that Golden W. Barrett of Idaho Falls faces a maximum 20 years in prison for his wire-fraud conviction. He entered his plea Tuesday in federal court in Portland. U.S. District Judge Garr King set sentencing for June 9th.

Some of the victims were aged or mentally disabled.

Court papers say Barrett served as the executive director of Monytek Human Services, a consumer credit counseling business that managed money for people who couldn’t pay bills or manage money on their own.

Monytek opened a Bank of America account in the Portland area in 2007 to take in Social Security money from those clients.
