“I love it,” he told People magazine about the new career path. “The hours are great. I get to go out, have a good time with all my friends, play the music I like to hear and have the day to myself.”

His professional name is nothing flashy: it’s just DJ Jon Gosselin. He says he’s simply capitalizing on his reality-star fame since “it’s not going away.” He even calls himself a “celebrity disc jockey” on his business card.

For a short time in 2013, it seemed Gosselin wanted out of the spotlight. Then he came back to TV in last season’s Couples Therapy on VH1. Now, he’s doing upward of 15 DJ shows a month near his home in Pennsylvania.

Other stars, such as Paris Hilton, have turned to DJ-ing, but Gosselin said it’s not an easy transition.

“You have to know what you’re doing. You have to keep the flow,” he said. “I play to the crowd. I’ll go back to the ’50s and play some James Brown, then into the ’80s: Prince and stuff like that. Then into the ’90s, and then Taylor Swift or whatever. I just move around.”

Gosselin said the one thing he won’t do is perform at weddings — because of his celebrity.

“The brides get pissed,” he said. “I’ve been at people’s weddings and then their guests start taking pictures of me and it’s not good.”
