The Denver Broncos fell 24-13 at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts Sunday. Manning had an average performance, completing 26 of 46 passes for 211 yards and one touchdown.

“Not a whole lot surprises you in football anymore because every game can go different directions,” Manning said after the game. “You certainly didn’t see it turning that way after that good first drive.”

Manning’s career post season play is a stark contrast to the performances many have witnessed in the regular season.  While his statistics are consistent — Regular season career: 65.5% completion percentage, 69,691 passing yards, 530 touchdowns, 234 interceptions vs. 63.9% completion percentage, 6,700 passing yards, 38 touchdowns, 24 interceptions in his postseason career — Manning’s ability to win in the postseason leaves a lot to be desired.

Over his career, Manning has won 179 games to 77 losses in the regular season with 51 game winning drives compared to an 11-13 record in the postseason with just one game winning drive.

There is little doubt Manning can still play at a high level.  In 2013, he threw 55 touchdowns, regaining the single season passing record that Tom Brady broke in 2007. However, after spinal fusion surgery in 2001, Manning has lost some zip on his passes showing an inability to stretch the field vertically or horizontally.

After the game, the primary question everyone wanted to know was would Manning return for another season?

“I guess I just can’t give that simple answer,” Manning said.  “I’m processing it.”
