Obama Calls Ohio State Coach to Congratulate Team on Win
Published at(WASHINGTON) — President Obama called Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer Tuesday night to congratulate him and the Buckeyes on their big win this week.
On Monday, Ohio State defeated Oregon 42-20 in the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship.
During the call, Obama “made note of the underclassmen who stepped up in the game despite injury and adversity,” according to the White House. He also said “he looks forward to welcoming the team to the White House to celebrate their championship.”
Meyer tweeted about the call Wednesday morning:
