The game was 25-20 at halftime, but Oregon’s high tempo offense was too much for Florida State’s defense, which seemed to give up early in the fourth quarter.

Florida State didn’t do themselves any favors as they committed five turnovers that saw Oregon score a touchdown off of each one. None was more backbreaking than when Jameis Winston slipped on a fourth down play and lost control of the ball attempting a pass. Tony Washington scooped up the ball and ran it back 58 yards, pushing the score to 45-20.

Marcus Mariota struggled to find a rhythm early, but found his groove and took control of the game. Mariota finished the day 26 of 36 for 338 yards and two touchdowns. He also continued to display his lethal dual-threat ability as he ran the ball eight times for for 62 yards and a touchdown.

Fellow Heisman Winner Jameis Winston tried to keep pace with Mariota but dropped passes and fumbles would be Florida States undoing. Winston completed 29 of 45 passes for 348 yards and one touchdown as well as one interception that bounced off the hands of his receiver.

The Ducks ended Florida State’s 29-game winning streak as well as toppling the former National Champions.
