Rashad, who played Clair Huxtable opposite Cosby’s Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show, told ShowBiz411.com Tuesday that she loves the veteran comedian and supports him in the wake of numerous sex abuse allegations, some decades old.

Rashad tells the website she has never seen the behavior alleged by women who claim they were abused.

“Forget these women,” says Rashad. “What you’re seeing is the destruction of a legacy. And I think it’s orchestrated. I don’t know why or who’s doing it, but it’s the legacy. And it’s a legacy that is so important to the culture.”

“Someone is determined to keep Bill Cosby off TV, and it’s worked. All his contracts have been canceled,” she added.

When discussing the legacy of The Cosby Show, Rashad told ShowBiz411, “This show represented America to the outside world. This was the American family. And now you’re seeing it being destroyed. Why?”

Rashad also defended Cosby’s wife, Camille, saying she would never have been complicit or looked the other way while her husband allegedly abused other women. “This is a tough woman, a smart woman,” says Rashad, adding: “She’s no pushover.”

Cosby’s lawyer has previously denied the allegations made against the comedian. He has never faced criminal charges in connection with the claims.
