Pitt Upsets No. 8 Notre Dame
Published at(PITTSBURGH, Pa.)– The Pittsburgh Panthers have upset the No. 8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
With a last second steal by junior guard James Robinson the Panthers took down the Fighting Irish 76-72 Saturday to end a three-game losing streak.
Robinson was one of four Panthers to score at least 14 points. He would finish shooting 5 of 8, including nailing both shots from beyond the arc, while dishing out ten assists; it was his first career double-double.
The loss for Notre Dame (20-3) comes on the heels of Wednesday’s 77-73 home victory over No.4 Duke.
The Panthers (14-8) will have to show their true colors over the next month with upcoming matchups against Louisville, North Carolina and Virginia. If Pittsburgh can take two of three they stand a chance of making a late push into the March Madness Tournament.
