Predators Lose Rinne for 3 to 5 Weeks
Published at(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne will miss three to five weeks due to a sprained knee, the team announced Thursday.
Rinne was injured in a collision in the third period of the team’s win over Vancouver Tuesday night.
“It’s a setback, but we’ll get over it as a team,” Predators head coach Peter Laviolette said. “He’ll get over it as a person, and he’ll jump back in there.”
Rinne leads the league with 29 wins, and is second in goals-against average (1.96) and save percentage (.931).
With Rinne out, the Predators (29-9-4, 62 pts) will turn to Carter Hutton as their No. 1 goaltender. Hutton has appeared in six games this season, compiling a 0-3-2 record with a 2.60 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.
“I’m just going to play my game,” Hutton said. “You never want to see a guy like Pekka go down but that’s the way it goes. We went through it last year. I feel like my games have been solid all year. I’m not getting the results I need, but if you look at the individual games and the way the games went down … I feel good in my game and I know the guys are confident in me and I’m ready to get in there.”
