RadioShack Could File for Bankruptcy As Soon As Next Month

benkrut/iStock Editorial/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — RadioShack Corp. could file for bankruptcy as soon as next month.
According to the Wall Street Journal, a filing could come in the first week of February. The electronics chain said in a December 2014 filing that “there can be no assurance that our efforts to further restructure our debt or operations will be successful.” Further, the company said, “we may be required to seek to implement in-court bankruptcy proceedings, which could result in a default on our debt with our lenders and/or the liquidation of the company.”
The company had acknowledged financial difficulties and said it had closed 175 underperforming stores in the 2014 fiscal year.
