(1) Kentucky Dominates South Carolina, 77-43
Published at(NEW YORK) — The Kentucky Wildcats showed again why they’re the top ranked team in the nation after taking care of South Carolina 77-43 on Saturday.
With the win, Kentucky improved to 25-0, matching the program’s record from 1953-54 for best star in school history.
Kentucky’s big men once again dominated in the contest. Center Willie Cauley-Stein scored 14 points, pulled down seven rebounds and added two steals. Freshman forward Karl Anthony-Towns scored nine points, grabbing four rebounds, and had a block.
Even though South Carlina guard Sindarius Thornwell scored a game-high 20 points, he did it on 5 of 17 shooting from the field. No other Gamecock scored more than six points.
As a team, Kentucky held South Carolina to 23.6% shooting from the field, and just 15.0% from the 3-point line.
Meanwhile, Kentucky shot 50.0% from the field, and 35.7% from 3.
