G Fiume/Getty Images(COLLEGE PARK, Md.) — Dez Wells scored 26 points in No. 14 Maryland’s 59-53 victory over No. 5 Wisconsin on Tuesday night.
Maryland’s win ended Wisconsin’s 10-game win streak, and possibly ruined their bid to come away with a share at the Big Ten title.
Melo Trimble also added 16 points and helped the Terps to end the game on a 12-6 run. Maryland improved to 9-0 in games decided by six points or fewer, and they’ve won their last three by a total of 17 points.
“We knew we had the poise and toughness to win the game,” Wells said.
Maryland will play Michigan on Saturday February 28th, and Wisconsin will look to get back on track Sunday when Michigan State pays them a visit.
