The chamber was built in a wooded area, near the university stadium that will host the games’ tennis competition.

The tunnel is located 10 feet below ground and is 33 feet long. Police say the structure was large enough for an adult to stand and move around in.

Deputy Police Chief Mark Saunders said on Tuesday it’s clear whoever built it had expertise.

“They used plywood walls, and a ceiling reinforcement with 2-by-8 wood framing,” he said.

Toronto Police say their examination turned up no evidence of criminal activity, but they are concerned about the discovery.
