Kane has reportedly been playing with this injury for an extended period of time.

Before the announcement, Kane hadn’t been in the best of graces with the team. The 23-year-old was a healthy scratch for Tuesday’s game against Vancouver, and it was later found out that he had violated team dress code by wearing a track suit rather than a dress suit when showing up for a team meeting earlier that day.

According to the Winnipeg Free Press, Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien threw Kane’s clothes into a cold tub to teach him a lesson. That reportedly upset Kane, who could not be reached by the team before Tuesday’s game.

Kane has played in 37 games this season, scoring 10 goals and dishing out 12 assists.
