After saving par on the par-5 18th, Day waited with Scott Stallings for J.B. Holmes and Harris English to finish out their rounds. The four then headed into a playoff. On the first hole, Holmes and Day made birdie while Stallings and English parred the hole, resulting in their elimination.

On the second hole, Day hit his first shot 15 feet from the pin while Holmes sent his over the green. Holmes then chipped his ball 15 feet from the cup but missed his par putt. Day 2-putted for par to earn his third PGA tour victory.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” Day said. “I’ve been working so hard for this. I was visualizing myself holding the trophy, just like I did at the Match Play. I’m really proud of myself to hang in there and grind it out.”

The PGA Tour heads to Pebble Beach on Thursday for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
