“Laugh-In” Announcer Gary Owens Dead at 80

Getty 021315 GaryOwens?  SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1423873728686Photo by Ron Galella, Ltd./WireImage(NEW YORK) — Legendary radio, television and voiceover performer Gary Owens, most known for his time as the announcer on Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, died on Thursday at the age of 80.

Owens served as the Laugh-In announcer from 1968 through 1973. He was inducted into the Hollywood Hall of Fame and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1980. He was also a part of more than 1,000 network television show episodes on shows ranging from Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Roseanne and Batlestar Gallactica to a recurring role on That 70’s Show.

Owens is survived by his wife of 57 years, Arleta, and his sons Scott and Chris.
