On Friday, the Mavericks announced Rondo will miss the remaining three games before the break so he can further recover from an injury that has kept him out since Jan 31st.

Rondo suffered the injury as well as broken nose when he was inadvertently kneed by teammate Richard Jefferson while getting up after tripping over the leg of Magic point guard Elfrid Payton.

Even though Rondo is not ready to return to the court yet, the team is optimistic he will not need to undergo surgery.

The 28-year-old Rondo was acquired by the Mavericks earlier this season from the Boston Celtics. The former All-Star has averaged 9.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, and  6.5 assists per game.

Even though the Mavericks are 34-18 this season, they find themselves only sixth in the Western Conference standings.
