“Modern Family” Goes Digital with Upcoming Episode

ABC/Bob D’Amico(LOS ANGELES) — Next week’s episode of Modern Family will have a digital twist: it was filmed with iPhones, iPads and a computer.
In the episode, Julie Bowen’s character, Claire Dunphy, desperately tries to locate her daughter, Haley, played by Sarah Hyland, after a fight. The half-hour basically consists of a series of interactions using Apple’s FaceTime.
Series co-creator Steve Levitan says the premise of the episode, titled “Connection Lost,” came from an online experience he had with his own family. Despite the prominent use of Apple products, Levitan swears the episode isn’t just one big commercial for the tech giant.
“Connection Lost” will air on ABC on Wednesday, February 25 at 9 p.m. Eastern.
