Turkey abolished the death penalty in 2004. However, some are calling for its return amid demonstrations in remembrance of the victim, Ozgecan Aslan. The body of the 20-year-old was found burned and suffering from multiple stab wounds.

So far, there are three suspects in custody in connection with her killing.
