Outreach Campaign by Catholic Church Receives Ridicule

Ingram Publishing/Thinkstock(ROME) — Woman across Italy have reacted with ridicule to a new Vatican outreach campaign ahead of an all-male meeting in Rome to discuss the role of women in the Catholic Church.
The YouTube video features an actress who urges women to send in a one-minute video clip about their lives to be shown at the all-male conference.
Italian women have mocked the video, one responding on Twitter that, “A Vatican discussion about female culture is like vegans giving advice on how to BBQ.”
The Vatican says the aim of the meeting is to find ways for women to offer their skills in “full collaboration and integration with men in the Catholic church.”
Some Vatican observers say the upcoming all-male gathering on women’s issues is a step forward for the church because of its call for more female collaboration.
