“We’ve got a lot of season left,” forward Paul Millsap said. “Nineteen games, that’s good. We lost one — 19-1 now. So it’s just regrouping. …We can’t let one loss turn into two losses.”

Pelicans forward Anthony Davis was the difference in the game. He scored 29 points, pulled down 13 rebounds, and blocked two shots.

The Pelicans also had six players score in double-figures. Eric Gordon chipped in 20 points for the Pelicans while center Omer Asik pulled down 17 rebounds.

“They had us on our heels from the very beginning,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. “They deserve a lot of credit for us not starting well.”

Despite the loss, the Hawks still hold a seven-game lead over the Toronto Raptors for the top record in the Eastern Conference.
