Report: Cavaliers Likely To Sign Kendrick Perkins
Published at(CLEVELAND, Oh.) — Days after being traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Utah Jazz, it appears Kendrick Perkins will settle in with a new team.
The Cleveland Cavaliers has “emerged as the frontrunners” to sign the 6’10” center, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.
Perkins, 30, is in the midst of a contractual buyout with the Jazz. He was traded to the Jazz, Thursday in a move that sent Enes Kanter from Utah to Oklahoma City.
After losing Anderson Varejao for the season to a torn Achilles tendon in December, the Cavaliers have been seeking size for their front court.
While Perkins is no longer the impat player that he once was when a member of the Boston Celtics, he is a still a powerful prescence in the locker room and provide an impact around the net. Perkins is averaging 5.5 rebounds per game this season.
