Report: Sacramento Kings Offer Head Coaching Spot to Karl
Published at(SACRAMENTO, Ca.) — At a time when basketball coaches are reaching the millennium mark for victories, the Sacramento Kings are looking to hire a man who has already achieved it.
The Kings gave George Karl a contract to become the head coach of the team, according to Ric Bucher of Bleacher Report.
Karl, 63, has a career record of 1,131 wins and 756 losses in 25 seasons. He has been the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets and the Seattle Supersonics — whom he led to the NBA Finals in the 1995-1996 season.
Tyrone Corbin has been serving as interim head coach of the team since Mike Malone was fired in December when the team began the season 11-13. Corbin is expected to coach the team for at least the next pair of games into the All-Star break, according to Yahoo Sports’ Marc Spears.
Karl previously served as head coach of the Denver Nuggets for eight seasons, compiling a record of 423-257 before being fired in 2013.
