Report: Titans Hire Dick LeBeau
Published at(NASHVILLE, Tn.) — Pro Football Hall of Famer Dick LeBeau has found a new home. LeBeau will join the Tennessee Titans coaching staff this Thursday, according to ESPN.com.
“Onward and upward,” LeBeau said. “Coaching’s been good to me. I’ve been blessed. Whatever happens next. We’ll embrace it.”
After spending the past eleven seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, that included three Super Bowl appearances and two victories, LeBeau will oversee the Titans defense that allowed 373 yards per game (27th) and 137.3 rushing yards per game (31st).
Last year Ray Horton served as Tennessee’s defensive coordinator, but he is expected to take a lesser role as LeBeau steps in. Horton worked as an assistant under LeBeau in Pittsburgh from 2004-2010.
LeBeau, 77, was widely rumored to join the Arizona Cardinals staff after Todd Bowles left to become the New York Jets head coach. LeBeau, an Ohio Native, and his wife preferred to stay in an area close to Cincinnati and the proximity of Tennessee is believed to have factored into the decision.
