Wall Street Edges Higher, Brings Market to Record

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — Stocks edged higher in trading on Monday after markets took Presidents’ Day off.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the session on Tuesday at 18,047.58, up 28.23 from its open.
The Nasdaq also finished up 5.43 to close at 4,899.27. The S&P 500 rose by 3.35 points to close at 2,100.34, a new record.
Apple shares rose on Tuesday, after reports the computer company may be developing an electric car to compete with Tesla and the big three automakers.
The slowly growing housing market hit a speed bump this month. The National Association of Home Builders released its builder sentiment survey on Tuesday, showing contractors confidence dropped slightly.
This winter’s brutal weather has slowed homebuilding across much of the nation.
