Italy’s highest court will rule on Wednesday to either to order a third appeal trial for Knox and her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, or definitively confirm their murder convictions and prison terms.

Knox and Sollecito were found guilty, then innocent, then guilty once again last January.

Knox was sentenced to 28 years and Sollectio to 25 for the 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher.

Knox now lives in Seattle and says she will not return to Italy for the verdict, and would prefer to live as a fugitive than turn herself in for a crime she says she did not commit.

Sollecito, however, doesn’t have that option. As an Italian citizen, he’s been stripped of his travel documents and will likely go to prison immediately upon a final conviction.
