Ammon high school participating in Locks of Love

  Published at

It’s been nearly a decade since Coach Linda Hostert was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately, she was able to beat this disease and her courageous battle helped launch an annual tradition at Hillcrest High School.

Friday morning, more than a dozen people will be donating at least 10 inches of their hair to Locks of Love. This non-profit organization provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 21 who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
Ballroom dance coach, Doug Hamberlin, will speak to the students about his own battle with cancer. The Frightline dancers will put on a performance and hand out a rose to each of the participants.

So far 11 students (10 girls and one boy) have signed up to donate. Three teachers, a graduate of Hillcrest, and her four-year-old daughter will also donate. There will also be four sisters under the age of 10 donating their hair during the assembly. Carlisle Beauty will once again be donating their time to style the hair after it is cut.
