Celtics Smart Suspended One Game

iStock/Thinkstock(BOSTON, Ma) — Boston Celtics rookie point guard Marcus Smart has been suspended one game after a dirty shot to the groin of San Antonio’s Matt Bonner, the NBA announced Saturday.
During the fourth quarter of San Antonio’s 101-89 victory, Smart delivered a punch to the family jewels of Bonner and after a review by the referees, he recieved a flagrant 2 penalty — which resulted in an automatic ejection.
Smart claimed after the game that he was trying to work through a screen and that the punch was a freak accident.
Smart will miss Sunday’s game against the Detroit Pistons.
