The Miami Dolphins assigned the transition tag to Clay before free agency began, which allows them the right to match any offer that another team would make to him.

The Bills offer includes $20 million in guaranteed money and schedules Clay to earn over $24 million in the first two seasons of the five-year contract.

After signing Ndamukong Suh to a $114 million contract at the beginning of free agency, Miami is left with a little over $9 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap.com.

As Miami began to see multiple teams interests in Clay grow, the team signed former Browns tight end Jordan Cameron to a two-year, $15 million contract.

Last season, Clay, 26, caught 58 passes for 605 yards.

Miami has five days to match Buffalo’s offer.
