I.F. students recieve $50K from Mayor’s Scholarship Fund

IDAHO FALLS — The Mayor’s Scholarship Fund will awarded some $50,000 to students from area schools during an award ceremony Wednesday.

A reception limited to the 50 award recipients, parents, sponsors and school administrators will be held at 6:30 p.m., followed by a public award ceremony at 7 p.m. The award ceremony is free and open to the public.

The Idaho Falls Mayor’s Scholarship Fund supports two different awards, the Senior Scholarship for graduating seniors in the amount of $1,500, and the Mayor’s Promise Award in the amount of $500 for students in grades eight to 11 who agree to maintain a college-bound path. Both awards are intended for use at accredited institutions of higher education in Idaho.

“An educated workforce is good for our city and good for our state,” Mayor Rebecca Casper said. “But the influence of today’s young people will go beyond that. Students today are collaborating more than even on projects to address global problems. Our youth will drive government, economic, education and societal change. I extend not only my congratulations to all the recipients but a thank you to their families, teachers and mentors for supporting them.”
