Idaho Falls man sentenced for insurance fraud

IDAHO FALLS — An local man appeared in court this week and was sentenced for two counts of insurance fraud.
Last November, a jury found Robert MacNeilage, 31, guilty of presenting a false or altered statement to his insurance company regarding damage to his 2013 BMW and his 2002 Ford truck.
The jury determined MacNeilage intentionally damaged the two vehicles and filed a claim with Progressive Insurance. In his claim, he alleged the two vehicles were damaged in an accident.
Seventh District Judge Jon Shindurling sentenced MacNeilage to two years fixed with six years indeterminate. The court retained jurisdiction. He was also ordered to pay $ 1,000 fine and court costs.
