The 31-year-old linebacker known as “Hitman,” signed a three-year contract worth $21.5 million, $15 million of it guaranteed in the first two seasons.

“After hearing the plans and vision of Coach Bowles and Mike Maccagnan, there was no doubt I wanted to return, help win a Super Bowl with the Green & White, and retire a Jet,” Harris said.

The Buffalo Bills, now led by former Jets head coach Rex Ryan and Miami Dolphins who added former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum to their front office were expected to aggressively pursue Harris once free agency began.

Harris was selected by the Jets in the second round out of Michigan in 2006. He has played in all but five games since 2007.
