Sports Business Daily
reports that the NFL is shopping around a 90-minute documentary on the making of Katy’s show, with an eye towards it airing in late April.  It’s in discussions with CBS, ESPN, Fox and NBC to show the doc, which started shooting in October, around the time Katy had her first creative meeting about halftime.  Among the 100 hours of footage they captured: Katy pacing in the bathroom at the University of Phoenix Stadium, waiting for the first half of the game to end, and a backstage look at the famous dancing sharks.

Meanwhile, Katy is also seen in BRAND: A Second Coming, a documentary about her ex-husband, British comedian Russell Brand.  Brand made headlines when he bailed out hours before a scheduled appearance at the South by Southwest Festival, where the film was to premiere, because he found it too uncomfortable to watch.

He wrote in a lengthy essay, “My life was hard enough the first time round and going through it again was painful and sad.”

According to the Daily Beast, the film shows that at one point in their brief marriage, Brand became disenchanted with the trappings of celebrity and traveled to Africa, where an encounter with some native children changed his perspective.  Upon his return, he and Katy sat for an interview, and as Brand ponders the meaning of money and fame, Katy says, “I think you’re a genius and you make me look good, and that’s why I picked you.” At the end of the interview, according to the Daily Beast, Katy also makes a crude reference to her “control” over a certain female body part.

Later, Brand is seen commenting on why the marriage failed, noting, “We were going in different directions. Possibly opposite directions.”

It’s worth noting that the dissolution of Katy and Brand’s marriage was first shown on film in Katy’s 2012 concert documentary Part of Me, where she’s seen crying backstage after Brand texts her to tell her the marriage is over.
