State Department: No Record of Hillary Clinton Signing ‘Separation Statement’

SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1426629322809State Dept photo(WASHINGTON) — State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said on Tuesday that there is no record of Hillary Clinton having signed a “Separation Statement” upon leaving her post as secretary of state in 2013, a form that critics claim could have found her guilty of a crime, had she signed it.

“We are fairly certain she did not sign the document,” Psaki said at Tuesday’s press briefing. She noted that there was also no record of any of Clinton’s predecessors signing the OF-109 form either.

Secretaries are not “required” to sign the document, Psaki added.

The form declares that the signee “in connection with my separation from employment in the Department of State of the United States Information Agency” has “surrendered to responsible officials all unclassified documents and papers relating to the official business of the Government acquired by me while in the employ of the Department or USIA.”

Clinton has been under fire in recent weeks after it was reported that she exclusively used her personal email account for work while secretary of state. Detractors have questioned whether she turned over all pertinent emails.
