Shorts, 27, who spent the first four years of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, signed a two-year $6 million contract. Shorts caught 53 passes for 557 yards and one touchdown last season.

Wilfork, 33, also signed a two-year deal, worth $9 million.  He had spent the last 12 seasons as a member of the New England Patriots.  Wilfork will join former teammate Mike Vrabel — who now serves as the teams linebacker coach — as well as former Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, who is Houston’s head coach.

Wilfork thanked the New England fans on his Twitter page after signing with Houston: “Thank you everyone for everything your support has been tremendous.”
