“I think it’s, it makes a lot of sense for senior administration officials to, on occasion, consult for him advice,” said White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest on Monday.

Petraeus leaked notebooks known as “black books” to his then-mistress and biographer Paula Broadwell. He resigned from government in 2012, but is still advising administration officials on the fight against ISIS.

Asked whether those officials take any security precautions when talking to Petraeus, Earnest said he wasn’t aware of any.
