Pirela sustained a concussion after slamming into the wall head-first while chasing a fly ball off the bat of Mets’ Juan Lagares in the first inning. Pirela attempted to stand up but collapsed back to the ground.

“Obviously you’re concerned when a player doesn’t get up,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. “He’s having some tests run right now. I’m not sure how long it’s going to take for him to get back, but he did not look good.”

Pirela was taken to the hospital after experiencing dizziness. He was tested with a CT Scan and an MRI; both tests came back negative and he was released.
