This is not the first time in his career that he’ll be headed to the disabled list. Crisp has made that trip four of his five seasons with the A’s.

Crisp hit .246 with nine home runs, 47 RBIs and 19 stolen bases last season for Oakland.

Crisp signed a two-year contract extension with the club last year and has a club option for 2017.

Oakland is also starting the season without outfielder Josh Reddick, who strained his oblique during spring training.
