Bhullar would become the first player of Indian decent in NBA history.

Bhullar played college basketball at New Mexico State until 2014. He was not drafted and has been playing this season with Sacramento’s affiliate in the NBA Development League, the Reno Big Horns.

“He adds a very interesting dimension to the game,” Kings head coach George Karl said. “And our game is becoming an international game and India is becoming one of the greatest, largest, biggest democracies in the world and I think it’s a good story and hopefully we’ll find some minutes for him.”

The worry with Bhullar has been his conditioning, but the youngster, who weighed more than 400 pounds last July, has lost more than 30 pounds during his time with the Big Horns.

Bhullar is averaging 10.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks per game for Reno this season.
