FDA Blasts Misbranding and False Claims on Kind Bar Labels
Published at(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration ripped Kind LLC for violations involving misbranding on product labels and making false claims.
According to a letter sent to the company by the FDA last month, the labels on Kind’s various products include notations, markings and claims that its products do not meet the requirements to use or make. The agency specifically mentions claims such as “good source of fiber,” “no trans fats,” “low sodium,” or “+ antioxidants.”
“Additionally,” the letter says, “your website…states ‘there’s healthy. There’s tasty. Then there’s healthy and tasty’ and ‘all of our snacks are pretty much the nirvana of healthful tastiness.'”
“However, none of your products listed above meet the requirements for use of the nutrient content claim ‘healthy,'” the FDA says.
