Giancarlo Stanton Calls Out the Struggling Marlins
Published at(NEW YORK) — A popular postseason pick, the Miami Marlins have not looked like a team capable of playing in October early on. Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton made it known that he’s frustrated with how the team has played this season.
Through 11 games, the Marlins are 3-8, tied for worst in the National League East.
“We’re not really giving ourselves a chance, it feels like,” Stanton said after the team’s loss to the New York Mets on Friday night. “We’ve got a positive vibe, but [something] is just not there.
“The fire is not there, it seems like. You always want to have it. But when you’re out there and it’s game time, it’s just nothing there.”
During the offseason, Stanton agreed on a record-setting $325 million contract. The Marlins also brought in players like Dee Gordon, Mat Latos, Martin Prado, and Michael Morse.
