According to multiple media reports, Manziel has been released from rehab and will now return to the Browns for their offseason conditioning programs. ESPN first reported the story.

Manziel, 22, was more famous in his rookie season for his off the field activities than his feats on it.  He was photographed in a bathroom with a rolled up dollar bill, readily admitted that he had numerous incidents of hard partying instead of working at his craft and even overslept for an injury treatment session after a night of drinking.

During Manziel’s six quarters of game action he looked lost and proved ineffective, most notably in week 15 when the Bengals shutout the Browns 30-0 and he completed 10 of 18 passes for 80 yards and two interceptions.

Currently, the Browns have Manziel and offseason addition Josh McCown at the top of the quarterback depth chart. Both players are expected to compete for the lead job when the team enters training camp, unless Cleveland adds a quarterback later this month in the draft.
