Mark Sanchez Explains Why the Eagles Signed Tim Tebow
Published at(NEW YORK) — Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mark Sanchez isn’t worried that his job is in jeopardy after the team signed Tim Tebow to a one-year deal.
“He’s obviously a great guy, he works hard. And we needed another guy to throw while [Sam Bradford] is still recovering,” Sanchez told CSNPhilly.com. “So that’s kind of the reason there [for the signing], at least as it was explained to me.”
Sanchez and Tebow were both teammates back in 2012, but Tebow played sparingly.
After starting eight games for the Eagles in 2014, Sanchez re-signed with the Eagles for up to $16 million over two years.
“Coach Kelly knows what he’s doing,” Sanchez added. “Don’t worry too much. It’s only April. Things will fall into place. We’ll be just fine.”
Tebow last appeared in an NFL regular season game during his lone season with the Jets in 2012.
