POCATELLO — Mayor Brian Blad is scheduled to issue to proclamations at a Pocatello City Council meeting Thursday. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

The first proclamation recognizes April 18, as Portneuf Valley Community Environmental Fair Day. Human activities have an impact on the Earth, and local communities can do much to slow down the effects of climate change. There are ways to live in harmony with our environment and methods and technologies to reduce our carbon footprint, according to a news release. Citizens are encouraged to attend the Environmental Fair on April 18, as well as to work to reduce their carbon footprint and help build a sustainable community. The proclamation was requested by the Portneuf Valley Community Environmental Fair Committee.

The second proclaims April 30, to be Pay It Forward Day. The concept of pay it forward promotes community spirit through acts of kindness. On Pay It Forward Day, people are encouraged to do good deeds for others without asking for anything in return except for recipients to pay it forward to others in need. Pocatello citizens are urged to observe the day with activities and acts of kindness. The proclamation was requested by the 5th grade students at Lewis & Clark
Elementary School.
