KETCHUM — There are many great organizations out there to help children who suffer from cancer. BYU-Idaho student Darren Gealta has started a local branch of Camp Kesem, which helps a different kind of cancer victim.

An estimated 3 million children in the United States have either lost a parent to cancer or has been treated for cancer. The camp gives these kids a chance to momentarily get away from the stress of their circumstances.

The BYU-Idaho chapter is not affiliated with the school, but is run by students. Gaelta says they have risen to the challenge.

Dylan Carder with KEIR East IDaho News Talk brings us more in the podcast below.

The free camp runs during the second and third week in August at Camp Luther Heights in Ketchum. Registration is currently open. To get more information and to register for the camp you can go to their website at www.campkesem.org/byu-idaho.
