The deal is worth $82.5 million, a major league source told ESPNBoston.com, which breaks down as follows: $500,000 signing bonus, $20 million in 2016 and 2017, $21 million in 2018 and 2019. His 2015 contract remains at $12.5 million. The average annual value of the contract is $20.625 million, and it is the 19th contract given to a pitcher that has an AAV of more than $20 million, according to CotsContracts.com. Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer each have an AAV of more than $30 million.

Porcello becomes the second pitcher the Sox acquired since Lester’s departure who has signed a multiyear deal since coming to Boston.
